Importance of massages after liposculpture

Lymphatic Drainage Massage (LDM) is a specialized massage technique recommended post-surgery to accelerate recovery period. It is recommended specifically when done following surgery, the treated area is given special attention to speed up recovery and provide smoother results. It also reduces swelling and helps prevent fluid collection.  Promotes the flushing of toxins.  Prevents the formation of scar tissue and fibrosis.  Improves circulation of blood and lymphatic fluid.  Stimulates wound healing.  May reduce discomfort.

You are recommended to have 2-3 massages per week for the first 3 weeks, then at least 1-2 massages per week for the following 3 weeks.

After a procedure like liposuction, tissue can produce excess lymphatic fluid as the body reacts to the traumatic action of the insertion of cannulas and removal of fat.  Even with less intrusive procedures, some patients may experience a degree of tissue disruption, leading to an accumulation of excess fluid, called edema. In some cases, pockets of fibrosis may form, leading to hardened areas of scar tissue.

Seroma aspiration is a medical procedure in which a healthcare provider uses a needle and syringe to remove fluid that has collected in a seroma. A seroma is a pocket of clear fluid that can develop under the skin at the site of surgery or injury. Aspiration helps reduce discomfort, prevent infection, and promote healing in such cases. It’s important to have this procedure performed by a medical professional which we have in various locations. Please let your coordinator know your location so they may connect you to the nearest clinic.

Please note seromas do not always develop although when they do, they will need to be aspirated. The way to avoid a seroma is compression with the use of 360 foam boards, abdominal boards and backboards can also help reduce the risk of developing a seroma. The number of times that you will need to drain a seroma depends on each patient as every individual is different. The medical professional performing your aspiration will monitor and advise you if you need to return and when for a second aspiration.
